Despite the Democrat-led House passing a new $3 trillion stimulus package known as the HEROES Act this week, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), made it clear during an interview on Fox News that the Senate is not ready to pass another stimulus package.

While he didn’t rule out another relief bill, he stated that more time and data was needed to determine next steps. He said the following to Martha MacCallum during his appearance Thursday night:

“The [CARES] Act, which passed a month or so ago on a bipartisan basis, only about half of that money has gone out yet.”  He continued, “I think there’s a high likelihood we will do another rescue package, but we need to be able to measure the impact of what we’ve already done, what we did right, what we did wrong [and] correct that.”

This sensible approach has Democrats and many Americans frustrated as state and local economies across the country remain throttled due to the continuing COVID quarantine, but more stimulus is not necessarily the answer.  At least not as has been proposed in this recent bill by the Democrats, to which McConnell made clear would not pass, “let me tell you what it won’t be…”It won’t be a $3 trillion left-wing wish list as it passed the House.”

As Democrats continue to call for increased lockdowns and additional funding in the name of both science and “kindness,” they are blatantly taking advantage of the system in place and politicizing a national crisis as they so often do.  In fact, even members of their own party see the the HEROES Act as a partisan failure.

Katie Porter (D-CA) said the bill was dead on arrival labeling it, as many others have, a ‘Democrat wish list.’ But she wasn’t alone.  14 other Democrats voted against the bill.

But how else are the Democrats attempting to turn this crisis into political gain?

For starters, as referenced above, they are shoving as many non-Covid related funding initiatives into their relief bills as they can with the hope that desperate times will allow certain items to slide under the radar.  For example, Pelosi’s latest package included funding for voting by mail this November under the guise of “protecting our citizens,” when even our nation’s largest liberal institutions will demonstrate through data that utilizing this process greatly increases the risk of fraudulent results. If you aren’t naive, you can see that this is not truly COVID-related, it is just meant to look like it is.  Additionally, there is funding tucked in for some undocumented immigrants to receive stimulus funds. And we’ve all seen the ludicrous funding that has been in previous bills, such as $25 million for the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Democrats are also pushing for additional relief funds for hard hit Americans, which most can agree with – regardless of political affiliation. Many among our population are in great need of assistance right now. However, they are doing so with a sustained effort through politics and the use of their biggest tool, the mainstream media, to push for continued lockdown.  This creates a situation where the people need the Democrats to get them stimulus funds to survive, when the reality is we need to reopen the economy and let people get back to work.  There is no individual growth or scalable opportunities in receiving stimulus funds, not to mention that continuing to pay people to stay at home is not only fiscally irresponsible, it’s stupid.

Democrat politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) have even suggested that people should resist going back to work.  Why? Because they can sit at home, and in some cases, earn more than they were before.  Now, I don’t think this is the case for the majority of Americans receiving relief, but it’s a lazy, socialist approach to a crisis that seems to be leveling off, or at least it would if the Democrats would allow it to.

McConnell commented on this as well by saying, “the problem was by paying people more not to work than to work, it’s making it difficult to get people back to work. You can understand that. We do need to continue unemployment insurance, [it’s] extremely important at a time like this.

Bottom line, relief packages should be about, wait for it…relief. And while additional funds for hard hit Americans are in their stimulus deal, so too are other issues that need not be there.  There is bipartisan agreement that an additional bill is likely, it just has to be one that makes sense.
