Chip Gaines Pays Tribute to Wife Joanna on 17th Wedding Anniversary – ‘Girl of My Dreams’

Chip and Joanna Gaines just celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary [1] on Sunday, and though the “Fixer Upper” stars have been together for quite a long time, they are still just as in love as ever!

Chip, 45, took to social media over the weekend to pay tribute to his beloved 42 year-old wife in a post that has quickly gone viral.

“Everything about u [sic] has made everything about me better. & 17 years later I’m still learning from & loving on the most incredible woman in the world,” he wrote. “After all these years Joanna Lea Stevens U [sic] really are the girl of my dreams.. Happy 17th sweet girl. I love you.”

The couple met back in 2001 at Joanna’s father’s Firestone tire store, where she was working in the front when Chip came in to get his brakes checked.

“We met in the waiting area and hit it off immediately,” he told PopSugar [4]. Joanna then added, “At first, I couldn’t believe how kind Chip was — he had kind eyes, and made me laugh a lot. I knew he was the one because I knew I could trust him.”

However, Chip has since admitted in the book “The Magnolia Story” that he wasn’t exactly the perfect gentleman at the beginning of their courtship. Fox News [5] reported that he was late for their first date, and he didn’t call Joanna back for weeks after that because he’d made a bet with a friend that he could hold out longer.

Thankfully, Chip and Joanna were able to overcome this hiccup, and they have been inseparable ever since! The couple has gone on to have gone on to have six children together: sons Duke, 11, Drake, 15, and Crew, who turns 2 years old in July, and daughters Emmie, 10, and Ella, 13.

Chip and Joanna had a huge year planned, as they were going to launch their new network Magnolia, but this has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Our intention with this network is to create and curate content that inspires, encourages, and helps to build bridges across our communities,” the couple said in a statement about their network. “We want honest, authentic programming that brings families together.”
