Over the past few months, it has become clear that a major rift has formed in the royal family, which is Prince William and Kate Middleton versus Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Now, the origins of this rift are being explained even further, as it’s revealed that William wasn’t the only person who urged Harry not to rush things with Meghan: his wife Kate told him to take things slowly as well.

Daily Mail reported that in their new book “Royals At War,” investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett claim that Kate told Harry it was important to take things slowly with the American actress because it would take “time, care and attention” for Meghan to integrate herself into the royal family.

Harry, however, was smitten with Meghan from the start, as he was drawn to her “confidence, commitment, drive and ambition” because “subconsciously he was seeking a figure to replace the mother so cruelly torn from him at a vulnerable age.” That’s why it did not sit well with him when his sister-in-law Kate told him to slow things down.

“She gently reminded him that he was dating someone with a completely different life, past, and career and it would take time, care and attention for them to integrate,” Howard and Tillett wrote.

Unfortunately, these well-meaning concerns backfired when Harry became convinced that his brother, sister-in-law, and the rest of the royal family as well as their aides were against his relationship with Meghan from the start. Howard and Tillett, however, have concluded that Harry’s misgivings were unfounded because royal officials actually liked Meghan from the beginning.

“All their IQs put together would not equal hers,” one high-ranking aide said after a royal meeting that Meghan attended.

“It’s my opinion that Harry feels he couldn’t protect his mother, so he’s going all out to protect his wife,” another source explained. “He is so sensitive he often sees criticism or negativity where there isn’t any.”

“The rifts that eventually opened up in the Royal family after Meghan arrived could have been avoided if Harry was able to empathise and take his brother’s concerns in the spirit they were intended,” the journalists concluded in their book.

Since stepping down as senior members of the British royal family earlier this year, Harry and Meghan have put distance between themselves and William and Kate by moving across the world to Los Angeles, California. They are currently living in the $18 million Beverly Hills mansion of Tyler Perry while they look for a home of their own in the area, indicating that they plan to stay there for quite some time.
