Congressman Greg Gianforte (R-MT) a GOP candidate for governor of Montana, won his primary this week and will go on to face Democrat Mike Cooney. But that is not the extent of Gianforte’s fame. He is also the guy who, the day before he won his election to the U.S. House in 2017, pummeled annoying British reporter Ben Jacobs of The Guardian. For his actions Gianforte had to pull some community service and was fined $325. No doubt all worth it. The president was amused.

“I shouldn’t say this — it’s nothing to be embarrassed about,” Trump said at an October 2018 rally. “I was in Rome with a lot of the leaders of other countries…and I heard about it, and we endorsed Greg very early, but I had heard that he had body slammed a reporter. And he was way up, and I said, and this was the day of the election or just before — ‘This is terrible, he’s going to lose the election.’ And then I said, ‘Wait a minute, I know Montana pretty well. I think it might help him.’ And it did. He’s a great guy. Tough cookie.”

Mike Cooney, his fall opponent, was not so jolly: “We ran against Mr. Gianforte in 2016. We know what he’s going to do. He’s going to try to buy this thing and I don’t think Montanans are going to put up with that. I think they want to keep control of their elections. They want somebody with the leadership and experience, who can hit the ground running from day one, and that’s exactly what we’re prepared to do.” Yeah Mike, but can you beat the living tar out of a newsie? No? Game over, in Montana.

In other election news this week, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is up to her old tricks driving Nancy Pelosi blind with rage —good on you, Ally— by endorsing and raising cash for hard prog primary opponents running against Pelosi’s incumbents.

Despite a less-than-thrilling record on past nods, Ocasio-Cortez said Wednesday she was going to back New York Democrat Rep. Eliot Engel’s primary challenger, far port-side teacher Jamaal Bowman.

“This moment requires renewed and revitalized leadership across the country AND at the ballot box,” she tweeted in support of Bowman.

Not “bombs and incarceration”? Well, somebody ought to tell the “bombs” part to those in his district throwing bombs at police. But perhaps that may not work, as Mr. Bowman may be amongst their midst. Then hopefully would come the “incarceration” part.

Speaking of Engel, the dumb git was caught on a hot mic Tuesday saying he “wouldn’t care” about not being allowed to speak at a presser about the riots in his Bronx district— if he wasn’t in a competitive Democratic primary.

Ruben Diaz, Jr. replied, “Don’t do that to me.” Now that’s funny.

In New Mexico, attention harlot and ex-CIA officer Valerie Plame got beat like a drum in her Democrat primary for the 3rd congressional district. Plame will now likely pull some other stunt to maintain her D-celeb status. Finally in Tuesday’s round of primaries, GOP state Senator Randy Feenstra declared victory over thick as a brick Iowa GOP Rep. Steve King in the 4th congressional district. Feenstra hammered King as a useless ally to President Trump, after top Republicans stripped King of his House committee assignments for asking during an interview: “White nationalist, white supremacist— how did that language become offensive?” Bloody hell, man. The GOP and the president are well served by his departure.
