Three months ago, we reported that country music star Cady Groves had passed away at the age of 30. Now, her cause of death has finally been revealed.

An autopsy from the Davidson County Medical Examiner’s Office in Tennessee that was obtained by Fox News has confirmed that Groves died of complications of chronic ethanol abuse. The report ruled that Groves’ manner of death was “natural.”

Days after her death, Groves’ friend Ryan Williams opened up about her tragic past. He said he met her back in 2011, just one week after she moved to Los Angeles, California and signed with a record label. Williams added that she had an infectious personality that could light up a room.

“I was always concerned for Cady. She was like another young sister to me,” Williams said. “It goes hand in hand with her creativity. Whatever she was feeling, whether it was happy or the opposite, it just fully engulfed her emotionally, which made for wonderful art but it did take a toll on her.”

He went on to add that Groves struggled to recover from a “tragic family past” that included her two brothers dying. Though she found heeling through music, it was still hard for her to deal with her past traumas.

“Her dad wasn’t really around anymore and music was really tough on her as well,” Williams said. “She had so many tragic things happen to her in her life. There was always someone’s birthday that wasn’t around anymore, like her brothers. There was always kind of like a dark shadow around her.”

He concluded by saying that Groves will “be remembered for always making jokes.”
