Nicole Kidman Reunites With Her Mother After Being In COVID Lockdown For Eight Months

Hollywood star Nicole Kidman just reunited with her mother after being apart from her for eight months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kidman, 53, took to Instagram to post two photos of her hugging her mother after being away from her for months because of COVID-19.

“Feels so good to be able to hug my mum! It’s been 8 months. I missed her 80th birthday but I’m here now. Love you Mumma,” Kidman wrote in the caption of the images.

We previously reported [3] that Kidman and her country music singer husband Keith Urban recently returned to Australia with their two daughters to work on her new series “Nine Perfect Strangers.” Though they spent the mandatory two weeks in quarantine once they got to Australia, Kidman and Urban were hit with some backlash for being allowed to do so at their Southern Highlands estate, rather than in a hotel room like other Australians are being made to.

“Under the Public Health Order by the Minister for Health and Medical Research, all people returning from overseas must quarantine in a designated quarantine facility, such as a hotel,” The New South Wales Government website [4] states. “Exemptions are rare due to the high risk of not quarantining. They are only considered where there are strong medical, health or compassionate grounds.”

Kidman and Urban were given an exemption to return to their estate by the government. A representative for Urban cited a press release by Screen NSW, an agency responsible for supporting the arts in New South Wales, as the reason why they were given this exemption.

“Executive producer Kidman and her core team have been authorized to establish an isolated production hub under full police-supervised quarantine at her Southern Highlands property to allow pre-production to continue remotely through quarantine — similar to arrangements made by governments to support football clubs to train and prepare for matches,” the statement read. “There will be no cost to the taxpayer.”

This did little to stop the backlash against the couple, however.

“Very disappointed in @NicoleKidman and @KeithUrban not going into quarantine like the rest of the people coming from overseas. The rich and privileged getting away with it again,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “One law for the rich and powerful and the rest ….well just buckle down!”
