Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shocked the world earlier this year when they stepped down as senior members of the British royal family. Now, it’s been revealed that Queen Elizabeth has let it be known to them that they can return to royal life whenever they want to.

An excerpt from the new book “Finding Freedom,” by royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, states that after an agreement had been made for Harry and Meghan’s exodus from the royal family, the Queen invited them to lunch at Windsor Castle. During this meal, the Queen assured Harry and Meghan that she supported them no matter what, and that they could return to the royal fold whenever they want to, according to Town And Country.

“As they tucked into a roast lunch, the Queen made it clear to Harry that she would always support him in whatever he decided to do,” the excerpt reads. “Though a 12-month trial period had already been promised to Harry earlier in the year, their conversation was also a reminder that should he and Meghan ever want to return to their roles, they were always welcome.”

A source close to the situation is also quoted as saying, “It’s been made very clear they can come back whenever they want, when they’re ready.”

This comes after various sources told Us Weekly that the 94 year-old Queen would like her grandsons Harry and Prince William to put aside their differences and fix their strained relationship before it deteriorates any further.

“[She] is firmly of the opinion that this nonsense cannot and must not continue any longer,” one palace insider alleged. “She wants the boys to sit and resolve their differences like grown adults.”

Another source said that the Queen was hoping William and Harry would solve their problems by the time their cousin Princess Beatrice had her wedding in May. However, she was forced to cancel her wedding because of the coronavirus pandemic, and she instead held a smaller ceremony earlier this month.

Now the Queen reportedly is hoping that Harry will travel to Balmoral from his new home in Los Angeles before the end of summer to talk things out with his brother in person.
