With riots and protests already a constant trend in America, many citizens are worried the violence will escalate as the election nears. Recent polls show President Trump trailing Biden by almost 9 points, yet 2016 is a testament that election polls might not be all that accurate. Still, when election night comes, new studies show three-quarters of Americans are worried that violence will erupt if President Trump wins re-election.
The poll, which was performed by YouGov and The Economist, found that 74% of U.S. adults believe there will be mass protests if President Trump is able to win re-election. What about if Biden wins? It appears not that many people are worried as only 44% of people believed there would be protests if Biden was to pull out a victory.
Three in four Americans believe mass protests are likely if President Trump is re-elected in November. Regardless of political background, Americans think a Biden win is less likely to lead to protests (44%) than a Trump re-election (via @YouGovAmerica): https://t.co/5c3QxmmxoG pic.twitter.com/3duFjLRygR

The numbers above aren’t all that shocking when many democrats and progressives have been outspoken about protesting if President Trump stays in the White House. While some believe these are just threats, the Daily Beast was the first to report that the Fight Back Table had gathered followers to discuss post-Trump protests.

The Daily Beasts wrote, “Those involved in the conversation say this wide an array of groups has never coordinated so closely on these matters before. And the fact that they were sitting down some two months in advance of the election, was a testament to how seriously they take the complications and threats Election Day poses.”
While the Fight Back Table is keeping details quiet, President Trump was brash when talking to Fox News about the potential protests on election night. Trump said, “We’ll put them down very quickly if they do that. We have the right to do that. We have the power to do that, if we want. Look, it’s called insurrection. We just send in, and we do it very easy. I mean, it’s very easy. I’d rather not do that because there’s no reason for it, but if we had to, we’d do that and put it down within minutes.”

Activists should take President Trump’s warning to heart as just weeks ago he dispatched federal agents into Portland to help take back control of the city. It took agents only a matter of hours to suffocate the violate protesting that had plagued the city for months.
