Iran plans move to disrupt Trump reelection

In the kind of move also no doubt being considered in the Beijing corridors of power, Iran, according to U S. Intelligence, may try to assassinate the U.S. ambassador to South Africa. This is allegedly a revenge operation for the successful American strike on Iranian terrorist thug Qassem Soleimani. But it is likely also part of a larger coordinated effort by forces both foreign and domestic to put maximum pressure on the president before election day and hope he cracks. LifeZette called this weeks ago.

What these plotters have not counted on is the tenacity and sangfroid of President Trump and also the fact that in many instances of national security crises Americans rally around the flag and support the president.

Fox News reports, “The news of Tehran’s purported plans was first reported by Politico, who spoke with one official familiar with the issue and another official who has seen the intelligence. Speaking hours later in an interview with ‘Fox & Friends’ on Tuesday morning, Trump repeated the warning: ‘We’re all set,’ he said. ‘They’ll be hit a thousand times harder.’ Trump cited recent reports that claim Tehran is considering an assassination attempt on Lana Marks, the United States’ ambassador to South Africa. U.S. officials have been aware of threats against the ambassador since the spring, but intelligence suggests those threats have become more specific in recent weeks.”

The president has more than once not attacked Iran, even when he had legitimate provocation to do so. When generals and national security aides counseled a general strike against the Islamist terrorist nation, Trump has preferred surgical strikes like the one that killed Soleimani but did not result in any collateral damage at all. What of the others in the car, one might say? If you’re in a car with that guy, at an airport, you’re very guilty of something. Thus, no good guys or noncombatants got their hair mussed.

It is common wisdom that voters make the economy and war and peace major factors in their voting choices at the national level. The economy and job numbers are looking up for the president. Thus those who want him out of office, his enemies foreign and domestic, will go to any lengths to achieve their goal. That includes attacking U.S. personnel or forces anywhere in the world.

China could also be looking at saber-rattling over the Spratly Islands, in the South China Sea, in and around Taiwan, against American ally India, or anywhere else in Southern Asia and the Pacific region. The goal wouldn’t be war. The objective would be, in the way the domestic riots serve the same purpose, to convince American voters all the turmoil would disappear if Trump left office. But after eight years of Obama/Biden in the recent past Americans know if Trump left the scene it would only get worse. A lot worse.
