Perhaps two of the greatest victories for freedom in the 20th century were the rejections of socialism as an economic model by Russia and China. We’re not saying that either nation is now a pluralistic democracy, far from it, but at least living standards have gone up for many in the two former socialist giants.
However, the empirical idiocy they rejected is still embraced by the American left. That is why Rep. Maxine Waters, D-CA, feels completely comfortable saying bassackwards things like this.

“One of the things we do know, guys, is this, that the lack of the ability to build wealth was built into our systems in this country continuously, and so where a lot of people will say, ‘Well, you know, you’ve got to work and pull yourself up by the bootstraps and all of this,’ public policy has been responsible for the blocking of the ability to build wealth in minority communities in general, in black and Latino communities in general,” Waters said during a “Young, Gifted, and Black” discussion at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Legislative Conference.
Right after trashing the work ethic that made this country great, Waters got close to the truth but then took a U-turn. She’s right, it was public policy. “What is it in public policy that did not allow you to have access to loans and to capital in order to invest in businesses when others seem to be able to go to the bank and get loans based on the fact that you say, ‘Look, this is what I do, I’ve got a lot of contracts, but it’s going to take me, you know, $20 or $30 million just to get this started and because you have collateral, right there, you get the money but not for us, and so we’re looking at that in housing. We’re looking at that in our economy in general,” said Mad Max.
Is she daft? What does she think happened in 2008, when anybody and their brother got loans and mortgages. Remember that manure storm Maxine? Heard of Tim Scott’s Enterprise Zones? Apparently not.

Though, it’s good to know this brave veteran running for her seat is fighting back for America and against her brand of socialism. Let’s hope he splashes this bandit.
If @RepMaxineWaters cared about black lives, she would fix our district and bring economic development to the community!
It’s time to fire Maxine.
