Robert Johnson was interviewed on CNBC’S Squawk Box on Wednesday. Johnson, a registered Democrat and the founder of Black Entertainment Television, weighed in on the 2020 Presidential Debate and the election as a whole.

While he was interviewed, the host asked him more than once who he supported. After Johnson said, “Where I come out as a businessman, I will take the devil I know over the devil I don’t know any time of the week.”

Johnson’s reaction made sense from what he said previously about Trump and how he handled the national economy, pre-pandemic. Johnson said, he isn’t endorsing him but with being a business man he doesn’t know how Biden would “run the country.”

The debate was a waste of 90 minutes, said Johnson, a sentiment shared by much of America. The debate really didn’t change anyone’s mind on who they are voting for. It mainly was to see if Biden could survive throughout the 90 minutes.

“What I had hoped he would do would be a reasonable, relaxed balance, if you will, in a debate where he would talk about specific policies, particularly as it impacts Black Americans,” said Johnson. If you take away the racial standpoint and look at from a business standpoint, business men and women want to know who will be running the country.

Johnson thinks the way Trump has run the country has been very beneficial to a lot of Americans. Before the pandemic the economy was booming, unemployment was low, employment levels were rising and small business were flourishing.

“I would rather know who I’m going to deal with in the White House. I’m going to know what regulatory decisions they’re going to make. What fiscal policy decisions, what monetary policies they’re going to make than to be taking a chance, particularly when you have the turbulence of a pandemic,” said Johnson

Biden wants to raise taxes and do away with Trump’s tax cuts, this is asking for an economic decline. Johnson believes the Democratic party has gone way too far left. He compliments Trump on how he has run the country. He encourages people not just be locked into one party. Research and see who will make the best president.
