Now that the smoke is clearing from Tuesday night’s shoutfest in Cleveland, the president may have done better than initially thought. Both CSPAN and Latin media polls have cast him as the winner by solid margins. Though some Republicans are still worried he alienated swing female voters by his aggressive manner. Though granted, those who would put manner above results in office probably are not Trump voters in the first place.
DC rumor says that Biden was physically and mentally exhausted after the debate and that his aides worry about the grueling toll on him after he goes more rounds with Donald Trump. Biden aides are also reportedly furious the CSPAN call-in vote totals were not manipulated by their own people.
Thus seeing the president’s seeming post debate bump, the allegedly nonpartisan Commission on Presidential Debates said that it soon would announce changes “to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues.” These changes could include limiting how much time a candidate could speak and giving the moderator the option of shutting off a candidate’s microphone. But knowing Trump, he’d make himself heard without a microphone if he had to.
BREAKING: The Commission on Presidential Debates says it will add new “tools to maintain order” to the upcoming debates after a chaotic first contest between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden. #Debates2020 https://t.co/fZ4HOP9W5S

This is a blatant attempt to rig the next debate for Biden. The Trump campaign knows it and is not happy. “They’re only doing this because their guy got pummeled last night,” Trump campaign Communications Director Tim Murtaugh said Wednesday. “President Trump was the dominant force and now Joe Biden is trying to work the refs. They shouldn’t be moving the goalposts and changing the rules in the middle of the game.” What kind of fair game changes the rules after the first quarter?
Newton Minow, a veteran member of the debate commission, said he couldn’t remember another time a debate sought to change the rules once they had already been agreed upon by both campaigns. “This is unprecedented,” he said. “Everything has been discussed.”
If the upcoming biased moderators, some of whom have been Democrat Hill staffers, have the power to switch off the president’s microphone at their whim, expect the Left to crow with glee. We know the Left hates free speech. Now they may get to gag the president of the United States.
