Just a week ago, over 6,000 scientists joined together in signing a petition calling for the government lockdowns to cease. According to experts, the lockdowns were having an irreparable effect on society. While some are in favor, the World Health Organization (WHO) recently changed course on the matter when they told reporters the lockdowns should be avoided.

Talking to The Spectator, Dr. David Nabarro, the WHO’s Special Envoy on Covid-19, told reporters, “We in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus.”

Failing to mention the President has been warning the country of the consequences from prolonged lockdowns, Dr. Nabarro went on the say he believes the lockdowns were justified when the virus outbreak was beginning. The WHO views a short-term lockdown as a way “to reorganize, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted.”

According to experts, the real threat of the lockdowns is to the economy and most important – the poverty line. With the economy shut down, citizens who live paycheck to paycheck found themselves at a crossroads when emergency funds dried up and bills came due. Dr. Nabarro says, “Lockdowns just have one consequence that you must never ever belittle, and that is making poor people an awful lot poorer.”

Instead of overreacting as the Democrats did back in March, WHO suggests not closing the economy but learn and talk to other countries. The organization believes this type of open dialogue will lead to better-developed systems to help fight the Wuhan coronavirus.

The WHO also encourages a “focused protection” approach rather than a mass herd lockdown. With focused protection, the most vulnerable would be cared for while the healthy continue their daily lives without interruption. The focused protection method isn’t just a theory as it has been proven successful in the past.

As mentioned above, the complete reversal from the WHO comes after the Great Barrington Declaration garnered the signatures of over 6000 scientists. That doesn’t include the number of doctors, nurses, and medical physicians that also signed the document calling for the mandatory lockdowns to cease.
