Partisan Michigan Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel has filed charges against former Republican Governor Rick Snyder over the 2014 Flint Water Crisis.

Because of the water crisis, Flint’s drinking water became contaminated with lead and killed at least 12 people after an outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease.

Snyder and eight others have been charged by Nessel for their part in the water crisis. Snyder was charged with two counts of willful neglect of duty. He could get a fine up to $1000 and up to a year in prison.

I think that the charges have set a precedent. The obvious next step should be to have charges filed against Whitmer and Nessel for their criminal neglect with the Midland dam failure.

Dams in Central Michigan broke in May of 2020, wiping out the village of Sanford and flooding other areas including downtown Midland.

Lawsuits have been filed against the company that owned the dams as well as the Michigan Dept. of Environment, Great Lakes Energy (EGLE) and the Michigan Dept. of Natural Resources for failure to operate, fix or repair the dams “in accordance with the established standard of care.”

That’s right, folks. Whitmer and Nessel didn’t do their job. Willful neglect of duty.

Whitmer and Nessel knew “dam well” (excuse the pun) about the dangerous state of the dams and did nothing. The owner, Boyce Hydro LLC, had safety violations and the feds revoked their license in 2018. None of this was a secret.

But what did Whitmer and Nessel do out it?

Nothing. Nada. Zero. Zilch. Zippo.

10,000 residents had to evacuate the area and five counties were impacted. Luckily, no one was killed or injured in the flooding but homes and businesses were damaged and destroyed, causing $209 million in damage.

Whitmer was just too busy to do anything about it because she had her hands full with her illegal pandemic orders, being Joe Biden’s campaign chair and trying to get the VP slot.

And Whitmer, never one to take responsibility for anything points the finger at the owner of the dams and away from the state when she says, “There are a lot of problems that come with the owner of this particular dam…” 

Yes, I guess absolves her of any duties or obligations to keep Michiganders safe.

Willful neglect of duty.
