The nation’s Capitol is on alert for any inauguration day violence from any quarter. Groups of both right wing and left wing groups are known to be in the Washington area. Of particular interest on Tuesday is the individual responsible for pipe bombs found on January 6th. Apprehension of other individuals who launched the assault on the Capitol, like members of the Oath Keepers, is proceeding apace. As such, their comrades could be planning revenge strikes.

FNC: “The FBI warned law enforcement agencies Tuesday that the person who constructed pipe bombs and left them near the Capitol on Jan. 6 has not yet been identified and is a ‘top priority’ on the eve of Joe Biden’s inauguration, according to a law enforcement official briefed on inauguration security concerns. The FBI also warned fellow law enforcement agencies Tuesday that there is concern this person is still active and could be attempting to make more explosive devices, according to the law enforcement official. As the attack on the Capitol was unfolding on Jan. 6, law enforcement officials found two pipe bombs only blocks away, one outside the Republican National Committee headquarters, and another outside the Democratic National Committee headquarters. Federal officials have made clear in the days since that both of those pipe bombs were legitimate destructive devices with functioning components.”

A pipe bomb is not the act of irresponsible rioters and vandals. It is the work of terrorists. When authorities nab this criminal he or she should be prosecuted to the very full extent of the law.

FNC: “The FBI on Monday released new photos showing the suspect or suspects allegedly responsible for placing pipe bombs in Washington, D.C., last week around the same time rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, interrupting the official certification of Electoral College votes by Congress. It’s not clear whether the images released depict one individual or more than one dressed in a similar fashion.”

“The Department of Justice is committed, together with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners, to ensuring a safe and peaceful inauguration – one that reflects our nation’s enduring highest values,” Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen said in a statement. “As I have repeatedly said over the last two weeks, the Justice Department will have no tolerance for anyone who attempts to mar the day with violence or other criminal conduct. The American people have demonstrated that they will not allow mob violence to go unanswered. Violence and senseless criminal conduct are not the right way to resolve differences or promote change in our country.”
