With the COVID-19 relief bill already spiraling out of control in Washington, the Democrats believed it would be a brilliant move to add minimum wage to the discussion. As if the almost $2 trillion bill isn’t already buckling under enormous pressure from the Republicans, why not throw a $15 wage increase into the mix. Even with warnings from experts about hyperinflation, Biden and the Democrats continue to fight for a bill that does more for them than the American people.

On Friday, the United States Senate convened to discuss and vote on the possibility of adding $15 minimum wage to the COVID-19 relief package. Seeing that the Democrats control all of Washington, they believed that it would be a quick ordeal as they supposedly had more than enough votes.

As the final vote was cast, the Democrats were faced with a startling revelation – even their own party voted not to increase the minimum wage at this time. With the final vote being 58-42, all Republicans voted no on the bill, which would have made it a tie, but seven Democrats, including one independent, decided to vote against the increase.

Taking the forefront on the minimum wage increase was none other than Senator Bernie Sanders. Believing he had the momentum and votes, Sanders was shocked to see the bill fail and quickly went on the defense. He tweeted, “There is not one state in our country where you can make ends meet on the current federal minimum wage. Not one!”How quickly would Congress raise the minimum wage if they were forced to live on $7.25 an hour? Outrageous.”

Another Democrat that has been a target for voting against the spike in pay was Senator Sinema. While she says she supports the increase of minimum wage, video shows that she voted against the bill. To make matters worse, she voted by simply flashing a thumbs down and bowing before walking away. Take a look for yourself.

Drawing criticism for voting against the bill, Sinema cleared the air on Twitter by saying, “Senators in both parties have shown support for raising the federal minimum wage and the Senate should hold an open debate and amendment process on raising the minimum wage, separate from the COVID-focused reconciliation bill.”

As the bill continues to be passed around and debated on, the incompetence of the Democrats is all too clear for the American people as their pain and suffering is little concern to the lawmakers in Washington.
