Americans Are Homeless While Illegal Immigrants Get Hotel Rooms

On the streets of many American cities are significant numbers of homeless people. Many have drug and mental health issues. Some are US military veterans. There are entire families on the streets, living on park benches. As someone who ran homeless shelters for several years, I’ve seen this myself. One thing they all had in common, they were American citizens.

They eat when they can and sleep wherever they feel safe. They are preyed on by other homeless people, by gangs, and by street criminals. Many got to their unfortunate state by bad decisions. Some are victims of the vagaries of the economy. Few want to live on the streets of America.

However, if they weren’t Americans they’d be much better taken care of by the Biden administration. In fact, tens of millions would be spent to get them out of the elements and in hotel rooms. But, as they are Americans, no such luck. We have American National Guard troops sleeping in DC garages, but foreign law breakers get hotel rooms.

If you’re interested in the priorities of the Biden administration, this betrayal of Americans in favor of illegal immigrants makes a very good case in point.

FBC: “Immigration and Customs Enforcement is securing hotel rooms to handle the growing influx of illegal families crossing into the United States. The Biden administration has awarded ICE an $86.9 million contract for hotel rooms near the border to provide temporary shelter and processing services for families who have not been expelled from the United States but have been placed in immigration proceedings for their removal.

“The contract, through Texas-based nonprofit Endeavors, provides 1,239 beds and ‘other necessary services.’ The families will receive a comprehensive health assessment, including COVID-19 testing. The announcement comes days after White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters on Thursday that the White House planned to provide 2.5 million doses of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine to Mexico.

“According to data released by the Customs and Border Protection, the number of migrant family members caught crossing the southwest border more than doubled between January and February. Around 7,000 migrant families were caught in January compared to nearly 19,000 migrant families in February. Meanwhile, unaccompanied children and single minors caught crossing the southwest border increased from 5,694 in January to 9,297 in February.” Americans on the streets and illegal immigrants sleeping soundly in hotel rooms. This is where we are today.
