Haley Denies GOP Civil War That She’s Taking Part In

Former UN Ambassador and South Carolina GOP Governor Nikki Haley is so afraid of ticking off any Republican, pro-Trump or anti-Trump, that she says one thing one day and another the next. Her tightrope walking is bemusing to watch, especially now that it has become absurd.

The absurdity is that Haley and her team are denying there is a Republican civil war that she is up to her neck in. It’s like George Pickett denying at Gettysburg that there was a conflict going on. She’s trying to squash talk on the subject because at this point any Republican internal battle has her coming out a loser. Ergo by her self-serving logic, there is no war.

FNC: “Former ambassador and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s latest comments regarding Donald Trump are raising eyebrows. A couple of weeks after pointed criticism of the then-president’s comments before the Jan. 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol, Haley praised Trump in a tweet Sunday night, a couple of hours after the former president’s address at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), his first public appearance and speech since leaving the White House on Jan. 20.”

This was Haley after the Trump speech at CPAC on Sunday. Notice the civil war line to deny the obvious. “Strong speech by President Trump about the winning policies of his administration and what the party needs to unite behind moving forward. The liberal media wants a GOP civil war. Not gonna happen,” Haley tweeted.

But in January, less than two months ago, this was her line. “We need to acknowledge he let us down…He went down a path he shouldn’t have, and we shouldn’t have followed him, and we shouldn’t have listened to him. And we can’t let that ever happen again,” Haley said.

“I think what we need to do is take the good that he built, leave the bad that he did, and get back to a place where we can be a good, valuable, effective party. But at the same time, it’s bigger than the party. I hope our country can come together and figure out how we pull this back.” But that didn’t go over well with the solidly Trumpist Republican base. So, the tune changed.

An unofficial Haley spox said this week, “Haley realizes that the liberal media blows up any and all Republican criticism of President Trump, attempting to push a GOP civil war. She’s not going to play that game…She parts company when she thinks it’s warranted, but she supports the large majority of Trump policies and applauds his message of GOP unity. That unity is essential for defeating the extremes we are seeing from the left.” The coordinated with Haley lines were said in anonymity because the pol was likely too embarrassed to put their name on that kind of unconvincing spin.
