Earlier this week, we reported that rumors were swirling that Meghan Markle is preparing to run for president as a Democrat in 2024. Now, former President Donald Trump is addressing these rumors head-on while also saying that he is “not a fan” of the wife of Prince Harry.
Maria Bartiromo asked Trump about a rumored presidential run by Meghan during a Fox Business interview on Tuesday night.
“As we wrap up here, Mr. President, what was your take on Meghan Markle, meeting with Democrat operatives?” Bartiromo asked. “She might want to run for president.”
“Well, I hope that happens, because if that happens, I think I’d have an even stronger feel toward running [in 2024],” Trump said in response. “I’m not a fan of hers. I think that what she talked about the Royal Family and the queen, I happen to think, I know the queen, as you know. I’ve met with the queen and I think the queen is a tremendous person and I am not a fan of Meghan.”

This comes days after sources told Daily Mail that Meghan has been telling friends that she has political aspirations. A senior UK politician who served under former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and has close ties to Washington claimed that Meghan has been openly networking among senior Democrats to help build fundraising teams and a campaign for the White House.
“The Blairite, internationalist and Democratic party networks are buzzing with talk about Meghan’s political ambitions and potential backers,” the anonymous source alleged.
Meghan, 39, is said to be considering running for president in 2024 if Joe Biden, who will be 82 by then, decides not to run for reelection.
There has been no love lost between Trump and Meghan for quite some time. While Meghan stayed relatively quiet about politics during her time in the royal family, she was an outspoken Hollywood liberal before marrying Harry, and she publicly condemned Trump in interviews before the 2016 election.
“Yes, of course, Trump is divisive, think about female voters alone, right? I think it was in 2012 the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points; that is a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it, that is a huge chunk of it,” Meghan said months before Trump came out victorious over Hillary Clinton.
“You’re not just voting for a woman if it’s Hillary because she’s a woman, but certainly because Trump has made it easy to see that you don’t really want that kind of world that he’s painting,” she added.
While a presidential race between Trump and Meghan seems unlikely at this point, one can’t doubt that it would be an entertaining race the likes of which we’ve never seen before.
