President Biden made his stance clear on Gun Control this week when it addressed the nation from the Rose Garden. With VP Harris not far behind, Biden attacked the gun industry and Americans who express their right to own a firearm. According to the President, no one, other than the military, should have access to a 100 round high-capacity magazine. And Biden didn’t stop there as he also claimed that anyone can buy a weapon at a gun show without a background check. Urging Congress to take action, Biden made a compelling argument. The only problem – it’s mostly lies.

During his Rose Garden speech on Thursday, Biden said, “Most people don’t know it: you walk into a store to buy a gun, you have a background check, but if you go to a gun show you can buy whatever you want, no background check.”

That statement alone is more than enough pressure to push for stricter gun laws, but as firearms expert and advisor to the Washington Free Beacon, Stephen Gutowski, explained – Biden is merely using scare tactics.

Gutowski tweeted, “Biden just lied about how background checks work. He said gun shows are exempt from background check requirements. That is completely false. All that matters in terms of background checks is whether you are buying from a licensed dealer or not.”

And apparently, that wasn’t all that Biden lied about during his speech when he also attacked the gun manufacturers and claimed they were exempt from being sued.

Again, Gutowski went to Twitter to set the record straight. “Biden also falsely said gun manufacturers are ‘the only outfit that’s exempt from being sued.’ Biden wants to repeal the [Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act] which only prevents lawsuits based on the criminal misuse of their products by third parties. Gun makers can [be] & are sued for other reasons.”

It wasn’t just Gutowski who saw the errors in Biden’s speech. A reporter asked Press Secretary Jen Psaki, “Is it the president’s belief that you do not have to undergo a background check when you are at a gun show?”

Trying her best to cover for Biden’s false statements, Psaki answered, “No, it’s not his belief. He believes that background checks should be universal.” She wouldn’t stop there as the reporter pushed harder on the President’s stance. But Psaki merely shook the question off, saying. “Well, we know what his position is, right, so let me reiterate that background checks should be universal.”
