Since the new voter laws in Georgia passed, the Democrats and even President Biden himself have been pushing a false narrative that the new law will enable an era of “Jim Crow”. It doesn’t matter that reporters have pointed out the President’s lies about the new law not allowing people access to food and water or the polls closing early, all that matters is the Republicans pushed for the changes, so therefore it must be bad. And even with each state fighting to revive their economy, President Biden advised the MLB to move their All-Star game to punish Georgia and the GOP, and that’s exactly what they did.
President Biden once called himself the uniter that was going to help bring this country back together. For too long, we fought among ourselves over trivial issues, and Biden was ready to heal the country. The only problem, he appears to be pushing it further apart. Just days ago, President Biden voiced his support for the MLB moving out of Atlanta. Being a staple for the city, many fans were excited to get a taste of normalcy for once. But just after Biden’s interview aired, the MLB released a statement saying it had decided to move the iconic game.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred released a statement saying, “Over the last week, we have engaged in thoughtful conversations with Clubs, former and current players, the Players Association, and The Players Alliance, among others, to listen to their views. I have decided that the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year’s All-Star Game and MLB Draft.”
After the decision was made public, players and fans both reacted to the news. Atlanta’s home team, The Braves, released a statement saying the plan to move the All-Star game was not supported by them.
“This was neither our decision, nor our recommendation and we are saddened that fans will not be able to see this event in our city. The Braves organization will continue to stress the importance of equal voting opportunities and we had hoped our city could use this event as a platform to enhance the discussion. Our city has always been known as a uniter in divided times and we will miss the opportunity to address issues that are important to our community. Unfortunately, businesses, employees and fans in Georgia are the victims of this decision.”
The man at the center of Georgia’s new voter law is Governor Brain Kemp, who also released a statement pertaining to the All-Star Game being moved. He said, “I will not back down. Georgians will not be bullied. We will continue to stand up for secure, accessible, fair elections. Earlier today, I spoke with the leadership of the Atlanta Braves who informed me they do not support the MLB’s decision.”
