Since the 2020 Election, there hasn’t been much word about the highly controversial subject of “packing the court”. During the election, it was a topic of several debates as Trump opposed the move, and President Biden claimed that the American people didn’t deserve an answer just yet. Well, with the stagnant economy, Southern Border, and Gun Control, Biden decided this was also the best time to create a commission that would study the effects of doing the thing Trump advised against – packing the Supreme Court.

Making the announcement on Friday, the day after he attacked current gun laws, President Biden decided to move forward with the idea of court-packing, even though majority of Americans oppose the idea. But according to The New York Times, Biden has been under constant pressure from “activists” to expand the court.

As for the commission, it will be made up of two partisans that are extremely left-wing and even served in the Obama administration. So, when it comes to the results of the study, it will more than likely lean towards the Democrat’s agenda. But that happens to be the same place President Biden might also find opposition.

The idea of packing the court is such a toxic idea that even most Democrats oppose it. The poster boy for socialism, Senator Bernie Sanders, warned his own party, “the next time the Republicans are in power they will do the same thing.”

And it doesn’t stop there as the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg warned her colleagues about the potential disaster that would follow packing the court. She believed that by electing more judges, the court would not only come off as biased but it would also continue to grow every time there is a power shift in Washington.

The founder and President of the Article III Project, Mike Davis said, “Packing the Supreme Court would destroy centuries of hard work from Democrat- and Republican-appointed justices to insulate the high court from partisan politics. It also raises serious red flags as to what unconstitutional actions President Biden is planning that a more favorable Supreme Court might tolerate.”

But even with both sides opposing the idea, President Biden appears confident that packing the court could have a positive outcome, especially when the judges are in your pocket.
