Since becoming President, Biden has made it his usual regiment to not finish a single project he starts. Instead, Biden tends to jump from problem to problem, pawning it off when he doesn’t know how to fix it. Now, with the border crisis, COVID-19, and gun control all on his plate, the President is vowing to end the war in Afghanistan on the day it started – September 11th. While many have called on the war to end, former President Donald Trump is taking issue with Biden’s “date” as he believes he could have our troops home earlier.

During his Presidency, Trump signed an agreement that would have all the troops out of war and back home safe by May 1st. And the plan was going smoothly until Biden took office and decided to wait a few more months for some good PR.

While being blocked from social media sites, Trump is still making his voice heard through interviews and email statements. In response to Biden breaking his agreement, Trump released an email statement attacking the President for playing politics with people’s lives.

“I wish Joe Biden wouldn’t use September 11th as the date to withdraw our troops from Afghanistan, for two reasons. First, we can and should get out earlier. Nineteen years is enough, in fact, far too much and way too long. I made early withdraw possible by already pulling much of our billions of dollars of equipment out and, more importantly, reducing our military presence to less than 2,000 troops from the 16,000 level that was there (likewise in Iraq, and zero troops in Syria except for the area where we KEPT THE OIL).”

“Secondly, September 11th represents a very sad event and period for our Country and should remain a day of reflection and remembrance honoring those great souls we lost. Getting out of Afghanistan is a wonderful and positive thing to do. I planned to withdraw on May 1st, and we should keep as close to that schedule as possible.”

As of now, the U.S. maintains roughly 3,500 troops, including Special Forces, in Afghanistan whereas NATO provides another 7,000 soldiers. Under Biden’s new September 11th agreement, all forces will be extracted. But as Trump suggested, is September 11th the best date, or is this just a publicity stunt to make Biden appears patriotic?
