Vermont Gov Announces Anyone 16+ Can Now Get The COVID Vaccine, Unless You Are White

Vermont Republican Governor Phil Scott announced his state is now offering the COVID-19 vaccine to everyone, unless you happen to be white.

In a tweet, Gov. Phill Scott said “If you or anyone in your household identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color (BIPOC), including anyone with Abenaki or other First Nations heritage, all household members who are 16 years or older can sign up to get a vaccine!”

Vermont has opened up the vaccine eligibility to anyone over 16, who is anything but a white person under 50.

On the state website [3], they list the current eligibility criteria to be able to be vaccinated, which includes:

Missing? White people under 50.  The U.S. Census Bureau [4] reports that 94% of the Vermont population is white.

Following a link [5] on the state website, visitors are directed to a “BIPOC COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic Registration” form.  On the form, it explains a few other ways lucky white people can become eligible for the vaccine, “The household members of the eligible BIPOC can also be vaccinated, even if those household members are not eligible.”

Have hope white Vermont residents, those of you living with a “BIPOC” can also get the shot!
