Warnock Jabbers About Easter, Gets Schooled

If there is anything more pernicious, more annoying, more absolutely repugnant than politicians of any stripe talking about religion, then it has not reared its snout in public discourse. The same goes for men of the cloth talking about politics.

Clerics of any type, of any religion from Christianity to Zoroastrianism (which is based on the moral teachings of Zorro) should permanently shutter their festering gobs when it comes to politics. For politics from the pulpit, any pulpit, is like hearing useless chatter from a junior editor at a small town newspaper. As such it’s provincial, not fact based, and frankly a waste of time. But enough about Pope Francis.

There should be a constitutional amendment, take religious vows or ordination and you unqualified yourself for office. Yes, per Henry II, someone should rid us of these troublesome priests. Which brings us to Raphael Warnock.

FNC: “Sen. Raphael Warnock, who is a reverend, faced criticism over a tweet posted on Easter Sunday saying the meaning of the holiday ‘is more transcendent’ than the actual resurrection of Jesus. The tweet was deleted, but it was picked up by websites like Mediaite and the Daily Wire.

“The meaning of Easter is more transcendent than the resurrection of Jesus Christ,’ the senior pastor of New Ebenezer Baptist Church’s account said. ‘Whether you are Christian or not, through a commitment to helping others we are able to save ourselves.” Warnock has an interesting notion of Easter. Which, of course, had a political subtext. Hence why clerics should butt out of politics because, like this, they use faith to shoehorn into religion their boneheaded political views.

Writer Allie Stuckey took exception to Warnock’s, beliefs regarding Easter. “There is nothing more transcendent than the resurrection of the God-man, Jesus. Literally: his resurrection transcends our finite conceptions of science & rationality. That the Word became flesh, dwelt among us, then was slain for our sins only to conquer death 3 days later? The absolute truth and only meaning of Easter that matters is the literal, physical resurrection of Jesus Christ.” Very well put. But the usual suspects had a response to Warnock’s critics.

Joy Reid of MSNBC said that Warnock is the pastor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s church. “Madame, I’m gonna take @ReverendWarnock’s take, as a pastor and a scholar on the Word over yours, if you don’t mind.” So, location is the key factor in Warnock’s credibility? So if I make a speech at Gettysburg I’m suddenly Abraham Lincoln? Wow, Reid went for the stretch on that one.

Warnock should resign his clerical post and concern himself with his duties as a senator, which seem to mainly consist of aiding in the destruction of America. Better yet, he should stay in the pulpit and let someone much more qualified, and who does not despise this country, serve in the Senate. Both the Senate and Warnock’s unfortunate flock would profit.
