Memorial Day has always been a time to honor our military and those who decide to put their lives on the line so we can all enjoy the basic freedoms the Democrats are trying to destroy. While many may believe the Democrats are merely the opposite side to the same coin, they are sadly mistaken as the party proves countless times they are only focused on power and stripping away the freedoms we hold dear. Their latest attack comes in the form of denying a New York Veteran’s group from holding their annual parade on Memorial Day.
While every Memorial Day is important, this particular year would have been the 102nd parade honoring the lives lost in the pursuit of freedom and justice for all. The parade was also scheduled to honor Gulf War veterans since it would have been the 30th anniversary. But thanks to New York City Mayor, Bill de Blasio, the parade will never take place since their request was denied. And why might you ask – COVID-19.
Apparently, De Blasio’s executive order that he signed last year restricts public events from being held to help stop the spread of the coronavirus. But as you are about to see, The United Staten Island Veterans’ Organization isn’t so sure their request was denied due to COVID-19 as they point out the blatant double standard when it came to Black Lives Matter.
Since the murder of George Floyd, BLM has been free to protests and even riot in New York without little consequence. One of their first protests was held on May 28, 2020, during the height of the pandemic.

Last July, De Blasio even took part in a BLM event where they painted “Black Lives Matter” on a Manhattan Street. De Blasio also defended the BLM protest while denying other organizations event permits. He said, “This is a historic moment of change. We have to respect that but also say to people the kinds of gatherings we’re used to, the parades, the fairs — we just can’t have that while we’re focusing on health right now.”

The United Staten Island Veterans’ Organization isn’t lying down as they plan to sue the city for denying their right to honor fallen soldiers on Memorial Day. And they aren’t alone as attorney Brendan Lantry, who is working for free, said, “Under the equal protection clause, it’s unconstitutional for the city to pick and choose between groups like this. There’s a clear double standard going on here.”
