President Biden made headlines this week as he paraded around the Ford auto plant in Michigan. But before the president had the chance to test drive Ford’s newest electric car, Biden had a rather intense encounter with a member of his own party when he landed on the tarmac at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport. Biden could barely step off the plane when Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) confronted him about the mounting conflict in Israel. The only problem, Biden appeared to have completely forgotten who she is and how to pronounce her name.

On Wednesday, President Biden shocked many Democrats when he stood by Israel and their right to defend themselves against ongoing attacks from the Gaza Strip. It didn’t take long before the President drew criticism from his own party and even walked back on his initial statement. Tlaib, the only Palestinian-American representative, took offense to Biden’s statement, saying “How many of my colleagues are willing to say the same, to stand for Palestinian human rights as they do for Israel? How many Palestinians have to die for their lives to matter?”

While it’s unorthodox to confront a President on the runway, Biden apparently enjoyed the confrontation from Tlaib. During his speech at the Ford plant, Biden praised her attitude and grit but drew a blank on pronouncing her name correctly. He said, “Rashid, Tlaib, where’s Rashid?”

As you might have noticed, the correct spelling is Rashida, but Biden didn’t seem to notice the mistake as he went on to say, “I tell you what, Rashid, I want to say to you that I admire your intellect, I admire your passion, and I admire your concern for so many other people. And from my heart, I pray that your grandmom and family are well, I promise you I’m gonna do everything to see that they are, in the West Bank. You’re a fighter and God thank you for being a fighter.”

Acting as if everything was normal, the audience merely applauded Biden’s speech but many are seeing the blunder as yet another reason why he shouldn’t be President. From his lack of leadership skills to his mental fatigue, Biden can barely make it through a speech, yet he believes he could run for President again in 2024.
