Although California is still trying to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to Governor Gavin Newsom, the Democrat thought it was also a great time to push his liberal agenda to ban assault rifles. According to Newsom, and even Joe Biden, assault rifles are one of the greatest threats to America besides white conservatives. But while the Democrats are hoping to scare citizens into giving up their weapons, a judge shot down their assault ban saying it is not only “unconstitutional” but violates the key to freedom – the Second Amendment.

Making the ruling late Friday evening, Judge Roger T. Benitez of the Southern District of California denied Democrats the right to institute an extreme weapons ban. And as one can imagine, Newsom wasn’t too thrilled about the news as he went on a tirade about the supposed dangers of assault rifles.

“As the son of a judge, I grew up with deep respect for the judicial process and the importance of a judge’s ability to make impartial fact-based rulings, but the fact that this judge compared the AR-15 – a weapon of war that’s used on the battlefield – to a Swiss Army Knife completely undermines the credibility of this decision and is a slap in the face to the families who’ve lost loved ones to this weapon. We’re not backing down from this fight, and we’ll continue pushing for common sense gun laws that will save lives.”

While Newsom is pandering to his voters, most of what he is saying is lies created by the Democrats. Newsom tries to convince Americans that the AR-15 is some weapon of war, but the truth is – the AR-15 has never been used on the battlefield. While the Democrats might not care, it should be noted that the AR-15 is a civilian rifle. The weapon Newsom should be referring to is the military M4, which is not only used in times of war but also has a fully automatic mode. The AR-15 does not.

But even with the Dems misunderstanding assault rifles, they continue their war on America’s right to bear arms. Luckily, Judge Benitez knows the difference, saying, “The banned ‘assault weapons’ are not bazookas, howitzers, or machineguns. Those arms are dangerous and solely useful for military purposes. Instead, the firearms deemed ‘assault weapons’ are fairly ordinary, popular, modern rifles.”
