While appearing at a Mack Truck facility in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, President Joe Biden made yet another truly bizarre claim when he alleged that he’s driven an 18-wheeler before.
“I used to drive an 18-wheeler, man,” Biden claimed. “I got to.”

Media outlets were quick to point out that there is virtually no evidence that Biden, who has been in politics for nearly half a century, ever drove an 18-wheeler.
“There is scant evidence that Biden has ever driven an 18-wheeler truck,” Fox News [4] reported. “When asked if the president had ever driven such a truck, a White House spokesperson pointed to a December 1973 article from the Wilmington Evening Journal that showed Biden rode in an 18-wheeler on a 536-mile haul to Ohio.”
When it was pointed out that driving an 18-wheeler is not nearly the same thing as driving one, “the president’s spokesperson pointed to a United Federation of Teachers post that touched on Biden driving a school bus in the past as a summer job.”
SchoolBusFleet.com [5], however, makes it clear that a school bus is very different than an 18-wheeler, saying that school busses on average “have two axles, with the bigger models having two wheels on the front axle and four wheels on the dual axle, for a total of six wheels.”
Social media users have roundly mocked Biden for his 18-wheeler claim.

Others mockingly speculated that Biden may have instead been talking about a favorite toy that he had as a child.
“Maybe he did drive them. Every little boy back in the day had either big daddy 18 wheelers or Tonka dump trucks,” one social media user joked [10].
Biden has made many statements that are both bizarre and questionable as president, and many of them turn out to be untrue. One of these claims was that he “got started out of a HBCU, Delaware State” — which the historically black college denied [11].
