Sen. Rand Paul Officially Calls On DOJ For Investigation Into Dr. Fauci

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci has made countless claims on the virus and the best ways to stay safe. The only problem, he continues to flip flop as research and health experts prove him wrong at every turn. Also, who could forget when he publicly denounced the theory that the virus originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. He even testified in front of Congress that the National Institutes of Health never funded research at the lab. As we now know, that was a lie. And while he is the chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden, Senator Rand Paul recently asked Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Dr. Fauci.

Senator Paul first announced his plan to investigate Dr. Fauci on Tuesday, and while some thought he was bluffing, documents obtained by the Washington Examiner reveal he was serious. Writing a letter to Garland, Paul said, “I write to urge the United States Department of Justice to open an investigation into testimony made to the United States Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions by Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, on May 11, 2021.”

For those that might need a refresher, on May 11, Dr. Fauci and Sen. Paul had a heated exchange when the doctor was asked if the NIH funded research at the Wuhan lab, including “gain to function”.

This is what Dr. Fauci had to say, “Sen. Paul, with all due respect, you are entirely and completely incorrect. That the NIH has not ever, and does not now, fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

After the hearing, Paul revealed that he had obtained documents proving large sums of money, using grants, had gone to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Yet, Dr. Fauci continues to deny these allegations.

Knowing the truth, Paul added in his letter, “These experiments combined genetic information from different SARS-related coronaviruses and combined them to create novel, artificial viruses able to infect human cells. This research, conducted at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and funded under NIAID Award R01AI110964, fits the definition of gain-of-function research.”
