Poll Reveals 32% Of Voters Claim To Be “Woke”

For those that might be unaware, the term “woke” has taken on a persona in itself as many liberals use it as a platform to push America into the future. According to Merriam-webster’s website, woke is defined as being “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).” This has led many Americans, especially on the right, to identify the term with any person on the left that more than likely has radical, liberal views. And while most of the woke culture is all bark and little bite, it should be noted the growth the movement has seen in the last couple of years. According to a new poll, 32% of voters considered themselves to be “woke”.

In the most recent Hill-HarrisX poll, voters were asked if they identified with being part of the woke culture. As mentioned above, 32% of registered voters actually answered “yes”. Another 23% of them answered “no” with 13% being unsure. 31% of those asked had no idea what the term even meant.

The poll also released the age brackets of the voters asked. 61% of those that answered yes were between ages 18 to 34. The percentage dropped to 39 when the age was between 35 to 49, and 22% for those 50 to 64-years-old.

But what about how the voters view being woke? Did they consider it to be a good thing or yet another divider amongst Americans? 38% of voters said they viewed the movement as being “good” while 21% said it was bad. 41% answered “neither”.

Although the movement might be growing, the poll revealed that voters were split 50-50 when it came to whether “wokeness” was actually helping the country or tearing it apart. Not surprisingly, 72% of Republicans saw it as causing political unrest while 70% of Democrats believed it was helping the nation.

While polls can be wrong, the growth of woke culture can’t be denied. Even Hill-HarrisX said, “This survey was conducted online within the United States from July 8-9 among 938 registered voters by HarrisX. The sampling margin of error of this poll is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points. The results reflect a nationally representative sample of registered voters. Results were weighted for age, gender, region, race/ethnicity, income, political party, education, ideology, and area type where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population.”
