The country is still coping with the disaster that was the withdrawal from Afghanistan, and although there are Americans currently trapped behind Taliban lines, President Joe Biden found time to take some much-needed vacation as he was spotted on the golf course on Sunday. Playing with former Senator Ted Kaufman, President Biden traveled to Fieldstone Golf Club in Delaware as he continues to hide from the fact that hundreds of Americans are in danger. And while Biden might not be able to change the narrative, he did shift the responsibility of keeping stranded Americans alive. Luckily, it wasn’t to Vice President Kamala Harris.

Passing the duties that Biden himself was unable to accomplish, Secretary of State Tony Blinken will now be taking control of evacuation efforts. Although he claims the process, while ongoing, will be slow, Blinken did announce a flight with 19 Americans had successfully evacuated Afghanistan.

Late last week, it was reported that the Taliban was allowing commercial flights from departing Kabul. Some Americans were aboard those flights. Flights were again halted by the White House on Thursday when a plane of Afghanistan refugees was found to have four cases of measles.

While attending a 9/11 event to remember all the lives lost on that horrible day, President Biden finally acknowledged his drastic dip in the polls and how the withdrawal from Afghanistan played a significant part. Although he understood, President Biden disagreed with it all being his fault. “I’m told 70 percent of the American people think it was time to get out of Afghanistan.” Biden added, “But the flip of it is, they didn’t like the way we got out. It’s hard to explain to anybody how else could you get out.”
