Since the January 6th Capitol Hill riot, over 600 people have been arrested in connection to what the Democrats believe was an act of civil war. Although footage of that day clearly showed the police letting protesters walk in freely, the Democrats are using the event to wage a war on conservatives and former President Donald Trump. And while in America a person is innocent until proven guilty, apparently a D.C. jail and the Director of the D.C. Department of Corrections were held in contempt of court on Wednesday as reports circulate that the correctional officers have been violating the civil rights of Jan. 6 defendants.

Making the announcement, U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth ruled, “For the reasons stated in open court, it is adjudged that the Warden of the D.C. jail Wanda Patten and Director of the D.C. Department of Corrections Quincy Booth are in civil contempt of court. The Clerk of the Court is ordered to transmit a copy of this order to the Attorney General of the United States for appropriate inquiry into potential civil rights violations of Jan. 6 defendants, as exemplified in this case.”

Not stopping there, Lamberth added, “I find that the civil rights of the defendant have been abused. I don’t know if it’s because he’s a January 6th defendant or not, but I find this matter should be referred to the attorney general of the United States for a civil rights investigation into whether the D.C. Department of Corrections is violating the civil rights of January 6th defendants … in this and maybe other cases.”

The defendant in question is Christopher Worrell, who is being charged with numerous felonies for his involvement in the riot. He is currently being treated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and has even contracted COVID-19. Due to his illness, Worrell accidentally fell back in May and broke his hand. Although he was recommended to have surgery, the jail has only provided him with Tylenol according to his lawyers.

As for the judge, holding them in contempt was simple as he said, “He’s needed an operation. He hasn’t gotten it.”
