Georgia Officer Shot and Killed, Manhunt Underway for Suspect

A young police officer was shot and killed [1] during his first shift as a part-time police officer with the Alamo Police Department around 1:00 am Saturday.

The officer, 26-year-old Dylan Harrison, was an Oconee Drug Task Force agent in Dodge County and had been in law enforcement since 2018. He was hired on as a part-time officer with Alamo PD and had shown up to work his first shift with the agency.

Officer Harrison was reportedly gunned down outside of the Middle Georgia police station.

The suspect was identified as 43-year-old Damien Anthony Ferguson who reportedly goes by “Luke.” The Georgia Department of Corrections shows that Ferguson has a long criminal history to include several counts of assault, including separate charges of assault against a police officer, battery, and theft. It appears that he was also wanted in connection with an arson of a residence in 2020.

Multiple agencies [2] in the area are involved in the massive man hunt for Ferguson. Few details have been released on the incident so far.

Officer Harrison is survived by his wife and six-month-old child.

A “Blue Alert” was issued for Ferguson with a $17,500 reward being offered for information leading to his arrest.
