GOP House Leader Kevin McCarthy has labeled Speaker Nancy Pelosi a “lame duck’ and says she’s acting like it. But, are the Republicans going to take the House in 2022?

History is on their side, as every president except Dubya since 1994 lost control of the House in their first midterm. The Gingrich Revolution in 1994, the Tea Party in 2010, and the Trump defeat in 2018 all point to a good chance of a Republican victory next year. But it is the Republicans, and they are notorious for grabbing defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Combine that with Democrat cheating, a possibly recovering economy by next year, and the loss-inducing presence on the campaign trail of the 45th president, and McCarthy shouldn’t start picking out a new curtains for the speaker’s office just yet.

FNC: ‘House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy slammed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday, arguing that the ‘lame duck speaker’ is on her way out of office, which is reflected in how she is conducting business. Senators voted to approve a short-term increase to the federal debt ceiling on Thursday night, ending a weekslong standoff on Capitol Hill and likely averting a default that could have triggered a recession.”

“Where was she last month when the Democrats were working on reconciliation? The U.K.,” McCarthy, R-CA, said during an interview on ‘Sunday Morning Futures,’ mentioning that currently ‘she’s back in Europe when she’s supposed to be concerned about the debt ceiling.”

McCarthy said that Pelosi is “on her farewell tour,” and opined that is why she included “$200 million from our hard-working taxpayers for a park in her district.” McCarthy also nailed Biden economics as “putting America on the wrong path.” He said the White House spending bill will “transform America” to look like a “socialist government.”

And he has “a big problem with what Nancy Pelosi has done in Congress.” He said that she has “desecrated” the House. Also, “She now has proxy voting where there are Democrats that have not shown up for work for months, but they still get their paycheck.” All valid points and reason for hope next year. Just don’t screw it up, Kevin.
