Democrat Rats Jumping Ship, Will Lose Congress

With an upcoming Republican Congress a serious likelihood, Democrats are bailing on Congress, their party, and Joe Biden. The latest? Left wing Democrat Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont.

Said Leahy on Monday, “I have reached the conclusion that it’s time to put down the gavel. It is time to pass a torch to the next Vermonter who will carry on this work for our great state. It’s time to come home.” Leahy is most famous for being told to “f*** off” by then Veep Dick Cheney. It happened in the middle of a contentious issue on the Senate floor. Cheney did not publicly apologize and was rumored to say his only regret was that he didn’t say it earlier.

While a hard partisan, Leahy is personally respected. “Over the past 47 years, Chairman Leahy has had a remarkable career in the Senate.  As chairman of the Appropriations, Judiciary, and Agriculture committees and president pro tempore of the Senate, Pat has served Vermont well and with honor.  His devotion to our nation and his state merits praise,” 87-year old Republican Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama wrote.” I thank Pat for his friendship and wish he and his wife, Marcelle, all the best.” The Republican governor of Vermont also had kind words.

Scott is a moderate Republican and no fan of Donald Trump in a left wing state that regularly elects Bernie Sanders to the Senate. That makes him a viable candidate for Leahy’s replacement in a Republican year, though this would normally be an easy Democrat hold. But look at Virginia and New Jersey. Both were also supposed to be easy Democrat wins. But we flipped Virginia and came close in New Jersey. Such is Joe Biden, the Democrat albatross. At this point smart money says 25 seat Republican pickup in the House, 3 in the Senate.

It’s not just in the Senate. High profile Democrat and Judiciary Committee halfwit Jerry Nadler of New York is leaving. Leahy and Nadler both know they will lose chairmanships in the new Congress and at their age that is a deal breaker. If they desire, both can make more money than they ever did in Congress by joining a lobbying shop or a DC bigfoot law firm. They are not the only Democrats retirements and there will be more to come. The rats are jumping off the sinking Democrat ship.
