A Republican lawmaker from Oklahoma has introduced a bill to ban vaccine mandates in the State.

State Rep. Tom Gann (R-Inola) has just filed House Bill 1003X, which has been nicknamed the “Liberty Bill,” to end what he describes as the “shocking abuse” after receiving “numerous” calls from constituents who face loss of employment due to vaccine mandates.

“Following Oklahoma’s successful, landmark opioid settlement against the drug makers, it’s inconceivable that any employer would ask employees to subject themselves to an EUA injection from that same industry,” Gann said, according to Fox News.

Gann has previously pointed out that the COVID-19 vaccine has not received full approval and remains available as part of the Emergency Use Authorization. While the Pfizer vaccine has received approval from the Federal Drug Administration (FDA), it may not be widely available just yet.

“Well, as a government official, our first and foremost duty is to preserve the individual rights for the people, and that’s what this law is all about. When this abuse is taking place in the State of Oklahoma, we have to stand up and protect the individual liberty,” Gann added in a statement, according to ABC 7.

His Liberty Bill is similar to an Illinois law that would protect employees who resist forced drug injection.

Back in July, Gann was one of the Republican state lawmakers who signed a letter to Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R) asking for executive action to prohibit vaccine mandates for state healthcare workers.

“These employees are the heroes that stood on the front line of the pandemic caring for those that had fallen ill to COVID-19. The quickest and most effective way to protect these workers is an executive order prohibiting these mandates,” read the letter, which 20 state representatives signed.

This comes one week after Stitt praised Oklahoma’s Attorney General for filing a lawsuit against President Joe Biden’s administration over their COVID-19 vaccine mandate on tens of millions of workers.

“I promised Oklahomans that we would sue the Biden administration for its unlawful vaccine mandates as soon as the rules were made public, and that is exactly what we’ve done,” Stitt said, according to KFOR. “I am proud to have Attorney General John O’Connor and the Legislature on our side fighting back against the constant federal overreach coming from the Biden White House.”

“We’ve asked the courts to immediately intervene and stop President Biden from demanding that American citizens comply with the federal government’s order to get a vaccine to keep their jobs,” he continued. “Forcing people out of work while businesses across the country are already struggling to find enough employees and our supply chain is experiencing historic disruptions proves that President Biden is totally out of touch with reality.”

“I will keep fighting to protect Oklahomans’ individual freedoms, and this mandate will not stand,” State concluded.
