In a move that is rather surprising, CNN has officially announced that they’ve officially “terminated” Chris Cuomo from the network. The news of Cuomo’s termination, which came as of December 4th, followed a suspension of news anchor, which we at Red Voice Media reported on in late November.

In a statement provided by CNN, Cuomo’s earlier suspension was referenced which the network reportedly consulted an outside law firm to look into the news anchor’s conduct.

“Chris Cuomo was suspended earlier this week pending further evaluation of new information that came to light about his involvement with his brother’s defense. We retained a respected law firm to conduct the review, and have terminated him, effective immediately.

While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light. Despite the termination, we will investigate as appropriate.”

CNN hasn’t come forward with what this “additional information” is on top of what led to Cuomo’s suspension and now ultimate termination.

As we at Red Voice Media had reported on back on November 29th, Cuomo had been found to have been more deeply embedded in helping his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, navigate his then-brewing sexual harassment scandals.

Apparently, Chris Cuomo had been tapping “sources” in order to look into some of his older brother’s accusers back in March as well as trying to intercept reports from other news outlets prior to their publishing to assist his brother in getting ahead of them.

The now-terminated Cuomo afforded a statement of his own regarding the matter, saying he didn’t envision his departure from CNN coming in this manner but that he’s “proud of the team” behind his now axed primetime slot.

“This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother. So let me now say as disappointing as this is, I could not be more proud of the team at Cuomo Prime Time and the work we did as CNN’s #1 show in the most competitive time slot. I owe them all and will miss that group of special people who did really important work.”
