With the new Omicron variant of COVID-19 announced, the Biden administration has already implemented travel bans to South Africa, hoping to curb the spread. Not to mention, there are already talks within the White House on how the new strain will affect America and if a new wave of mandates will follow. But while the liberal media has already started spinning hysteria around the Omicron variant, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was sure to ease citizens by reiterating that he would not institute any restrictions due to nothing more than media buzz.

Speaking about the new variant during a press conference, DeSantis said, “We are not in Florida going to allow any media-driven hysteria to do anything to infringe people’s individual freedoms when it comes to any types of COVID variants.”

The governor added, “In Florida, we will not let (the federal government) lock you down. We will not let them take your jobs. We will not let them harm your businesses. We will not let them close your schools.”

Knowing that the discovery of a new strain would most definitely come with a new set of mandates, many Americans are already bracing for the reaction from President Joe Biden and the Democrats. But either way, DeSantis’ plans for Florida are business as usual.

Pressed on the matter of the Omicron variant and their reaction, President Biden claimed that lockdowns were not being discussed “for now”. But he was sure to use the moment to push vaccine and mask mandates. “If people are vaccinated and wear their masks, there’s no need for the lockdown. Dr. Fauci believes that the current vaccines provide at least some protection against the new variant and the booster strengthen [sic] that protection significantly.”

On top of DeSantis bucking at the current narrative surrounding COVID-19, he also took the time in his press conference to push for more funding for law enforcement. Another agenda that contradicts the Democrat’s defund the police movement.
