The creator behind the global franchise Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, has taken a fair amount of backlash due to her stance on the transgender community and what makes a woman a woman. Not taking kindly to her opinion on the matter, transgender activists have used social platforms to discredit, shame, and even threaten Rowling. And if they were hoping their threats would scare here, Rowling is once again in their line of fire as she criticized a plan by Scotland police to record suspects accused of rape by the gender they identify as.

The new policy ultimately means that police will have no decision but to log a rape being carried out by a woman as long as the suspect identifies as a female. Tweeting about the decision, Rowling wrote, “War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength. The Penised Individual Who Raped You Is a Woman.”

It should be noted that Rowling wasn’t the only one upset by the policy. former Holyrood Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill stated, “As a lawyer for 20 years and Justice Secretary for almost eight, I’ve seen some legal absurdities, but this tops it all and is dangerous. It’s physically impossible and is about dogma overriding common sense.”

Taken offense to Rowling’s words, “Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness wrote Rowling was a “transphobic cherry picked vitriol.” He added, “As trans women are assaulted, deprived of work, killed, and raped JK is safe in her mansion.”

Even Vice News attacked Rowling, claiming she “just won’t stop attacking trans people online.”

Another user added, “I’m just not sure why you keep talking about it. Your entire point now is hating a community of people? We don’t need to hear from you and your little stories anymore. Enough.”

best-selling author Shannon Hale suggested Rowling’s comments were somehow putting transgender women at risk.

But while Rowling continues to take a massive amount of backlash for her stance, she remains adamant about standing up for the rights of women born women.
