Did Bill Cosby do what he is accused of by PA prosecutors? Probably. Too many women came forth with the same story and he admitted as much in civil testimony. But prosecutors cut an immunity deal with him. That’s why Cosby spilled his guts during the civil suit. The PA Supremes saw that and, as Cosby had been convicted on such evidence, bounced the conviction. They acted correctly. Now, the prosecutors want another chance. They should be laughed out of court. A deal is a deal.

FNC: “Pennsylvania prosecutors asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday to overturn a lower court’s ruling that reversed Bill Cosby’s conviction for sexual assault.

Cosby, 84, who was often dubbed “America’s Dad” before allegations of sexual misconduct were made public, had served more than two years of a 10-year sentence when the state’s highest court tossed the conviction in June, saying an agreement between Cosby and former Montgomery County prosecutor Bruce Castor prevented Cosby from being charged in the case. Cosby’s lawyers have long argued that he relied on a promise that he would never be charged when he gave damaging testimony in an accuser’s civil suit in 2006.

Castor’ successors argued that such a ruling could set a dangerous precedent if convictions are overturned due to closed-door deals. The only written evidence of such a promise is a 2005 press release from Castor, who said he did not have enough evidence to arrest Cosby.”

“This decision as it stands will have far-reaching negative consequences beyond Montgomery County and Pennsylvania. The U.S. Supreme Court can right what we believe is a grievous wrong,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele wrote in a petition to the Supremes. He had earlier said this, after the conviction went south on him.

“I want to commend Cosby’s victim Andrea Constand for her bravery in coming forward and remaining steadfast throughout this long ordeal, as well as all of the other women who have shared similar experiences,” Steele said.

“My hope is that this decision will not dampen the reporting of sexual assaults by victims. Prosecutors in my office will continue to follow the evidence wherever and to whomever it leads. We still believe that no one is above the law — including those who are rich, famous and powerful.” The Cosby team countered. “But as we have always said, this is bigger than Bill Cosby. This is about reforming the criminal justice system.” They are correct.
