WASHINGTON, DC – On January 11th, Mayor Muriel Bowser took to Twitter to remind residents within the district that they’ll need to have their walking papers handy “before heading out” of their homes come January 15th. Said walking papers, of course, being proof of having the COVID jab.

Back on December 22nd, 2021, Mayor Bowser issued an executive order mandating that anyone over the age of 12-year-old must be fully jabbed – and show proof they’ve been jabbed – in order to enter certain “establishments and facilities.”

Per the mayor’s order, the “covered establishments and facilities” include restaurants, bars, nightclubs, “indoor entertainment establishments” likes pool halls, movie theaters and concert venues, gyms and fitness centers, and “indoor event and meeting establishments” like conference centers and banquet halls.

What was omitted from the jab mandate requirement were houses of worship, grocery and “big box” stores, pharmacies, urgent care centers/hospitals, polling locations, government offices like the DMV, office buildings and residences.

With the deadline approaching for said jab mandate within D.C., Mayor Bowser decided to issue a reminder to the public via Twitter.

“Remember that starting Saturday you will need these three things before heading out:

  1. Proof of Vaccination (12 years +)
  2. Proof of Vaccination and Photo ID (18 years +)
  3. Mask”

Outside of the fact that the aforementioned mandate is effectively an order for people to carry walking papers if daring to venture to certain areas of commerce, others online poked fun at the fact that one such item needed for adults is a valid form of photo ID – highlighting the talking point frequently brought up by Democrats that matters like requiring ID for voting is somehow ‘racist.’

The official Twitter account of the Tea Party Patriots were among the many to highlight this double standard, writing, “You’ll need an ID to go inside a McDonald’s in DC, but not to vote…Beyond parody.” Former Daily Wire and Townhall contributor Beth Baumann also chimed in on that front, noting, “Since you’re okay with showing a photo ID to get into a restaurant, you support IDs for voting, right?”

These mandates being enacted in Washington, D.C. essentially mirror ones going into effect in Boston, Massachusetts on the same day, which Red Voice Media previously covered back in December.
