CHICAGO, IL – During a recent speaking event at the University of Chicago, former deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe was invited to speak about the incident at the Capitol on January 6th – using the afforded platform to liken conservatives to extremists and calling for federal surveillance of mainstream conservatives.

The event, which was held over Zoom, took place on the anniversary of the Capitol incident, where McCabe was among a handful of other panelists to discuss what they collectively deemed to be the “insurrection” of last January.

McCabe managed to make headlines himself back in 2018 after being fired by then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions due to him having leaked sensitive information to the Wall Street Journal pertaining to an investigation into the Clinton Foundation and then lying about his actions under oath, per a statement from Sessions at the time.

“Both the OIG and FBI OPR reports concluded that Mr. McCabe had made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor − including under oath − on multiple occasions.”

In short, McCabe is hardly a beacon of morality. While speaking about the incident at the Capitol, McCabe likened conservatives to that of Islamic terrorists/extremists.

“I can tell you from my perspective of spending a lot of time focused on the radicalization of international terrorists and Islamic extremists and extremists of all stripes…is that this group shares many of the same characteristics of those groups that we’ve seen radicalized along entirely different ideological lines.”

Are you embarrassed to have Joe Biden as America's "President"?

Absurdities were abounding with McCabe’s comparisons during the event, as he also proclaimed that parents attending local school board meetings present “a threat to national security” and that federal agencies need to send the “message that this sort of conduct that both horribly victimizes individuals, but also serves to undermine our democratic process.”

Apparently, parents coming to school board meetings to vent their frustrations regarding the likes of mask mandates or what’s included in their children’s curriculum requires a “rapid and complete response by law enforcement at the state, local and federal level to this sort of political violence” according to McCabe.

Perhaps the most alarming sentiment McCabe expressed was his desire to see the likes of “mainstream” conservatives being surveilled by federal agencies, justifying his position by proclaiming that in light of January 6th he believes “business owners, white people from the suburbs, educated, employed” have proven themselves to serve as a bonafide national security threat.

“Are you going to catch this threat if your focus is only on the traditional, right-wing extremist, those groups that we know about, the quote-unquote, fringes of the right-wing movement? And I think the answer to that is no.

It’s entirely possible that when the intelligence community and the law enforcement community looks out across this mainstream, they didn’t assume that that group of people — business owners, white people from the suburbs, educated, employed — presented a threat of violence, and now we know very clearly that they do.”
