First stepping on the court for the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2003, Lebron James would go on to play for the Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers as he won four NBA championships and was the NBA finals MVP four times. Not to mention, he went to the NBA All-Star a whopping 18 times. But among all the trophies, rings, and championships he has won, it appears the basketball star had a dream of venturing into the world of Hollywood. Having always been compared to basketball legend Michael Jordan, James hilariously optioned to star in the sequel/reboot to the Space Jam franchise. And while James might be a star on the court, his performance on the screen has garnered him a famous Razzie Award nomination.
On Monday, announcing their 42nd Razzie Awards, the show revealed LeBron James had received a nomination for the “Worst Actor” for his performance or lack thereof in Space Jam 2. CNN wrote, “The Golden Raspberry Awards (the formal name for the Razzies) nominations are decided by 1,128 voting members from 49 US states and more than two dozen foreign countries who cast their 2021 ballots online, selecting five top contenders in each of the nine categories. As per tradition the “winners” will be announced March 26, which is the day before the Oscars.”
Having been labeled as “one of the worst movies ever made”, and wasn’t even released in China, Space Jam 2 was also nominated for Worst Picture, Worst Screen Couple, Worst Remake, and Worst Actor.
But before James can take home that coveted disgraceful prize, he will have to beat out some stiff competition like Ben Platt in Dear Evan Hansen, Mark Wahlberg in Infinite, Roe Hartrampf in Diana The Musical, and Scott Eastwood in Dangerous.
