While Hillary Clinton, who famously lost to Donald Trump in the 2016 election, has reemerged within the Democratic Party once again, another liberal is also making waves as they become a key figure for the party. Although Clinton might be a strong contender for the upcoming presidential election, Georgia’s Stacey Abrams has gained a significant amount of ground among Democratic voters. Hoping to capitalize on her stardom, Abrams recently sat down with The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah where she compared herself to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Democrats might be known for saying some outlandish things, but in the video below, Abrams was discussing her fight for voter rights when she believed it was somehow the same as the people in Ukraine fighting for their lives. Abrams said, “We are a stronger nation when we allow people to participate. And if we ever doubted that, the war that Putin is waging against Ukraine, President Zelenskyy said it, and I’m going to paraphrase him, probably poorly. He said this isn’t a war on Ukraine, this is a war on democracy in Ukraine.”

Causing even Noah to be taken back by the absurd comparison, Abrams continued, “When we allow democracy to be overtaken by those who want to choose who can be heard, and those choices are not based on anything other than animus or inconvenience, then that is wrong.”
