Comedian Chris Rock performed on stage to a sold-out crowd at the Wilbur Theater in Boston Wednesday evening in what observers described as a very emotional performance. The popular funny-man broke down in tears and told the audience he was “still processing” the assault he received from Will Smith at the Oscars.

When Rock first appeared on stage in his all-white outfit, the audience gave him a wildly enthusiastic standing ovation that lasted two minutes.

Once the applause settled down, the comedian rhetorically asked “How was YOUR weekend?,” which generated the first big laugh of the evening.

He then asked the audience to “Let me be all misty and s**t.”

Many people at the Boston show were hoping to hear the comedian talk about the Oscars event, when actor Will Smith walked up on stage and slapped Rock in the face. Smith was asked to leave the Hollywood event by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, but he refused.

Rock, 57, told the crowd, “I don’t have a bunch of s**t to say about that, so if you came here for that…”, not finishing the sentence.

At this point, an audience member shouted out “Sue him! Sue him!”

Rock added, “No matter what you read or heard, I have not addressed (the incident) yet. I have not had the meetings.”

Making light of the assault, he then quipped that the worst thing to come out of last weekend was his daughter not getting into the college of her choice.

He continued, “I had written a whole show before this weekend. I’m still processing what happened, so at some point I’ll talk about that s**t. It’ll be serious. It’ll be funny, but right now I’m going to tell some jokes.”

he then continued on with his prepared show.

When his performance was over, Rock was escorted into a black SUV and left without talking to reporters.
