Days after Elon Musk took control of Twitter, the Biden administration announced that a “Disinformation Governance Board” is being established to combat “disinformation” in the 2022 midterm elections.

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced yesterday that the new organization has been created and is being led by Undersecretary for Policy Rob Silvers and Jennifer Gaskill. Mayorkas said the focus will be on fighting the disinformation in minority communities.

Nina Jankowicz, a far-leftist who previously served as a disinformation fellow at the Wilson Center, will head the board as executive director. Jankowicz stated during the 2020 presidential election that Hunter Biden’s laptop, which has been verified by multiple media outlets, was a “Russian influence op.”

Republicans were outraged.

Senator Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) wrote a letter to Mayorkas, calling the board a “disgrace”, and demanded to know how the board will operate.

Other Republicans were just as critical. Texas Congressman Troy Nehls pointed out, “They didn’t need a ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ until Elon Musk threatened their control over the narrative.”

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert tweeted, “The libs spent the last weeks planting the seeds for the back-up plan in case the Twitter deal actually happened. Today’s news of a Biden backed ‘Disinformation Governance Board’ is dystopian. They can’t afford to let the truth be anything but what they say.”

Florida Congressional Candidate Dr. Willie Montague asked, “Is there anything more dystopian than a Disinformation Governance Board run by the federal government?” He calls the board “Orwellian.”

Basham is right. This Orwellian “Disinformation Board” is an outrage. Just imagine if Trump, or another Republican, had tried pulling this stunt. The media would be having a tantrum. Democrats would be going to court on Day 1 of the announcement. How far will Republicans go to fight this? As Basham correctly pointed out, this is important enough to fight with everything they have, because if one side completely controls the narrative, that is the end of Democracy.
