In a stunning triumph for free speech and liberty today Twitter has accepted Elon Musk’s bid for ownership. Twitter may finally become a legitimate online townhall, replacing censorship with freedom of expression.

The announcement, which was revealed in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, also notes that Musk has received commitments of approximately $46.5 billion to help finance the deal. The funding includes roughly $21 billion in equity financing and around $25.5 billion in debt financing through Morgan Stanley Senior funding and other firms, including Bank of America, Mizuho Bank, Barclays, MUFG, Société Générale and BNP Paribas.

The self-described “free speech absolutist” is taking a page from Voltaire and actually appealing to what is left of this country’s class of logical thinkers who support the free market of ideas.

The 45th president thought the Musk purchase was a positive development, but said he would not be returning to Twitter and would focus on his own online platform, The Volkischer Beobachter.

The deal to buy the platform was hammered out Sunday night. “The two sides worked through the night to hash out a deal that would be valued at $54.20 a share, or $44 billion,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “Assuming there isn’t a last-minute snag, the deal is expected to be announced after the market closes Monday, if not sooner.”

Upon news of this expansion of freedom, predictably, leftist heads exploded. “When billionaires like Musk justify their motives by using ‘freedom,’ beware,” Robert Reich wrote in The Guardian. “What they actually seek is freedom from accountability. They want to use their vast fortunes to do whatever they please – unconstrained by laws or regulations, shareholders, or even consumers.” Ah, apparently Reich only likes liberal billionaires like Jeff Bezos or communist billionaires like George Soros. “Not sure I am interested in Twitter if Elon Musk owns it,” CNN contributor John Dean wrote. Good John, because Twitter will no longer be interested in you.

Far-left writer Shaun King claimed Musk’s purchase was about “white power…The man was raised in Apartheid by a white nationalist. He’s upset that Twitter won’t allow white nationalists to target/harass people. That’s his definition of free speech.” Yup, all the Left has left is race baiting. It’s their go to. Too bad for King others, who are not vicious racists like himself, will now be able to fight back on Twitter.
