Now that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has moved to acquire the social media platform Twitter, many users have been left wondering if former President Donald Trump will be allowed to return. Although Trump has had a turbulent past with Twitter, it wasn’t until after the 2020 election that he was censored and banned. Given the numerous scandals surrounding the 2020 Presidential Election, Trump was adamant that it had been stolen not only from him, but from the American people. After the January 6th riot, Trump was permanently banned. But again, with Musk in charge, what does the future hold for Trump, apparently not Twitter.

Speaking with Fox News on Monday, the former President admitted, “I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on TRUTH. I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.” He added, “We’re taking in millions of people, and what we’re finding is that the response on TRUTH is much better than being on Twitter. Twitter has bots and fake accounts, and we are doing everything we can.”

While Trump might not be looking to jump back on Twitter, Musk is thrilled about what the future holds for the company. “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated. I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans.”

With Trump creating his own platform called Truth Social, the Republican heavyweight has noted in the past that he wouldn’t return to Twitter given how boring the platform is without him.

Although some might be relieved that Trump isn’t returning to the site, many liberal have voiced their growing disdain for Musk taking over the platform and what that could mean. According to Senator Elizabeth Warren, the move is a danger to democracy.
