After the altercation between Chris Rock and Will Smith at the Oscars, many commented on the actor slapping the host, claiming it opened a door for comedians to be attacked for doing what they are paid to do. While making jokes was once designed to make people laugh and forget about the problems of the world, thanks to the push from the woke movement and cancel culture, jokes are now perceived as fact. And as for concerns about comedians being attacked, on Tuesday, a man rushed the stage at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl arena and tried to attack Dave Chappelle.

In the video, which is featured below, Chappelle was performing at a Netflix festival when 23-year-old Isaiah Lee rushed the stage and tried to tackle the comedian. Take a look.

Luckily, not only was Chappelle able to deflect the tackle, but security was quickly on the scene, taking Lee into custody surprisingly, Jamie Foxx appeared on stage beside Chappelle.

As for Lee, he was taken into custody and accused of assault with a deadly weapon. While no one was injured at the time, the suspect rushed Chappelle holding a replica gun that contained a knife blade. He is currently being held with bail set at $30,000.

Continuing with his show, Chappelle joked that the attacker was a trans man. Like many of his jokes, the crowd laughed and cheered as the comedian didn’t let the intense moment take away from the night’s festivities. What might be more interesting than Chappelle being attacked and Jamie Foxx coming to his support is the fact that in the audience, another comedian, Chris Rock was in attendance. He also didn’t miss the opportunity to take a jab at his situation with Will Smith. He joked that the attacker was probably Smith himself.

Given the past few specials from Chappelle, the LGBTQ+ community has demanded he be censored for making what they deem to be transphobic jokes. With Netflix standing by the comedian, he posted a clip on Instagram, stating, “To the transgender community, I am more than willing to give you an audience, but you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody’s demands”. He added, “If you wanna meet with me, I’d be more than willing to, but I have conditions: First of all, you cannot come if you have not watched my special from beginning to end. You must come to a place of my choosing and a time of my choosing. And thirdly, you must admit that Hannah Gadsby is not funny.”

Users online couldn’t help but laugh about how Chappelle handled the entire situation and was still about to work the assault into his routine.
